- She was the only child of Benjamin Borden Jr. and Magdalen Woods McDowell and was called the 'Heiress of Virginia' because her father owned five hundred thousand acres in the old dominion. He had got them from Lord Halifax having been his land agent at one time. [7]

Benjamin Borden, Jr. (d. 1753) m. 1744, Magdalen (Woods) McDowell, daughter of Michael and Mary (Campbell) Woods and widow of Captain John McDowell, who was killed in battle with Indians in 1742. Benjamin Borden, Jr., resided after his marriage at Fairfield, north of Lexington, Virginia. He was a justice, and captain of Augusta County militia.
