Jean Baptiste François Giquel and his wife Marie Elisabeth Durand de Saint-Romes, natives of Port-au-Prince and dedicated the first to the trade in precious stones, settled in New Orleans taking as sons who were given: Alessandro and Jean Baptiste Thomas Giquel [de Durand de Saint Romes], who went to Havana, treated the First and Second Lines respectively.
