- Jean was a student in law at Caen, then at Paris, where he became a lawyer, attorney of the King Syndic (Official Receiver) at Saint-Brieuc in 1715. He was later Mayor of Saint-Brieuc in 1719, deputy at the Estates (general) of Brittany in 1728 at the jurisdiction des Regaires, civil and criminal lieurenant of the royal court of Saint-Brieuc, and subdelegate of the Intendant of Brittany.
