    • Madeleine Le Clerc was the niece of Pere Joseph Le Clerc du Tremblay, the prominent adviser of Cardinal Richelieu. [2]

    • Another source identifies this Madeleine Le Clerc du Tremblay as a nun at the convent of Haute-Bruyère.
      Charles Leclerc, seigneur du Tremblay et gouverneur de la Bastille, avait épousé Françoise d'Allenas dont il eut six enfants:
      1° Henri-Marie Leclerc, dont nous venons de parler et dont nous parlerons encore, maître des requêtes, auquel, le 16 octobre 1643, conjointement avec sa femme, il fit une donation entre vifs de la terre du Tremblay, à la réserve de l'usufruit la vie durant de chacun d'eux (5).
      2° Claude-Philippe, chanoine de Notre-Dame de Paris.
      3° Jean, lieutenant au régiment des gardes françaises.
      4° Marie, femme de Louis d'Angennes, marquis de Maintenon, dont nous parlerons plus bas.
      5° Angélique, religieuse au Calvaire du Marais.
      Madeleine, religieuse au couvent de Haute-Bruyère.
