    • Came together with Barthelmy Daniel de Macarty to Louisiana in 1732 as French colonel officers. Jean Jacques, the elder, born in Nimes, Languedoc, in 1698, was thirty-four years of age when he landed in New Orleans as a captain in a company of th emarine. His younger brother, Barthelmy, served as a lieutenant in a separate company. [1]

      In 1735, Macarty married, and the couple eventually had five children, three daughters and two sons. He established an indigo plantation north of New Orleans.

      Noble JEAN de MACARTY, Aid to the Major at New Orleans, native of the City of and Bishopric of Munier (?) in Languedoc, son of the Noble THEODORE de MACARTY, Commandant the Count de Crassolle, when living the Major of the Regiment of Juvernay and of Dame CATHERINE FLECHY his father and mother
      with
      Dame FRANCOISE TREPAGNIE widow of the deceased Sieur FRANCOIS DAMARON who, when living was an apothecary of the King at New Orleans.
      Having received the mutal consent of marriage between the two, consenting for Sieur de MACARTY being Mr. de Bienville, Chevalier of the Royal and Military Order of St. Louis, Governor fo this Province, Mr. Chevalier de NOYAN, Major at New Orleans.
      And for Dame Widow DAMARON, Dame GENEVIEVE BUREL, widow TREPAGNIE wife of Sieur de MARSILLY her mother, Sieur ESTIENNE LALANDE de DALCOUR.
      The parties have promised this marriage to be solemnized in the Holy Roman Apostolic Catholic Church.
