    • Jonathan Darby II was listed on the "Le St. Lois" coming to Louisiana from France as a member of the Concession of Sieur Contillon, sailing from France, March 21, 1719. He was listed as a clerk. Though he came from France and spoke French he was English by birth, the son of Jonathan Darby I, of Oxford and Anne Segre of Livingston, England. In La Hist Quart, Vol 4, page 236,"November 28, 1727, he is mentioned as Director of the Bernard Contillon grant. On Feb 18, 1737, he signed a contract of marriage with Marie Corbin Bachemin, daughter of Jean Corbin-Bachemin and Anne Marie Judith LeHardry. He was listed there as "Sieur Jonathan Darby, English gentleman, Doctor ofthe University of Oxford, and dame Anne Segre, a native of Lininsong, England, now residing in New Orleaaans, on the one side; and Miss Marie Corbin, minor daughter of Sieur Jean Corbin, called Bachemin, and of Dame Anne Maried Judith LeHardy, a native of St. Malo. They had 4 children. Don't have his date of death, bur Marie died April 12, 1806. At the time of Johanthan's death the family then settled in the Attakapas, as records show their names in 1777 in St. Martinville. Their children were: Pierre Jonathan Darby, born Feb 3, 1748; Jean Baptiste Darby, born Mar 25, 1749, married about 1776 to Louise Francoise Pellerin, Died July 14, 1795 - they had 6 children; Louis Danican Darby, born about 1755, married Sept 23, 1781, Jeanne Marie Josephe DeSalles (his cousin); 4.
