Floyd Marshall Stewart '50
Floyd Marshall "Skip" Stewart '50 died at age of 71 on November 21, 2005.
Mr. Stewart began his studies at Hawken School when he entered the second grade. During the winter of 1948, he tested his driving skills at the Lyndhurst campus. "Skippy arrived at the bus before his master, started the motor and put the car in gear moving it back and forth," srote Carl N. Holmes. After the incident, he never again played with the mechanism on a Hawken station wagon. Following his eigth grade year at Hawken, Mr. Stewart matriculated to Procter Academy. He then earned a degree from Texas Western College in El Paso.
Until the mid 1980's, Mr. Stewart served as vice president and treasurer at Control Associates. He was then employed by Stewart Controls until 2001. Most recently, Mr. Stewart worked as vice president of Promotion Architects in Charlotte, North Carolina.
He and his wife of 47 years, Carol, have resided in Charlotte, for the past five years. Previously they resided for 31 years in Aurora, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Seymour Floyd Stewart and Mary Marshall Stewart. In addition to his wife, Mr. Stewart is survived by a daughter, Tracy S. Meyer; a son, Todd F. Stewart; two siblings, Ann Stewart Otis and John Penn Stewart; and five grandchildren.
