- "Seventh son of William Thorowgood and his wife Anne Edwards, daughter of Henry Edwards of Norwich, England, was baptized 1603 at St. Botolph's, the parish church of Grimston, Norfolk, England, where his father had been appointed vicar, 1581. He came to Virginia in the Charles, 1621, was listed in the census, 1623/4, at Elizabeth City, and was also there in 1624/5 when he was given as aged 18 and as a 'servant' in the muster of Mr. Edward Waters."
